In Wonder Woman (2017) most of the story unfolds in World War I. Diana, an Amazonian warrior woman lives on a hidden island with others of her kind. When a plane crashes off the island’s coast, Diana rescues the pilot, Steve Trevor, and discovers there’s a war raging in the outside world. Believing the vindictive god Ares to be responsible for the war, Diana arms herself with the “Godkiller” sword before taking Steve and leaving to stop the war and protect mankind.
