The Shape of Water (2017), Elisa, a mute woman works as the cleaner at a secret government facility. The facility houses a mysterious amphibious, humanoid creature captured in a river in South America and brought back to the U.S. for study. Elisa begins to bond with the creature and visits him in secret. When Elisa learns the researchers plan to vivisect the creature, she decides to help it escape and soon discovers the bond they share is deeper than she imagined. The Shape of Water won the Academy Award for Best Picture (2018).
